The Upper West Side

The Upper West Side is the area of New York City located, between west 59th and 110th streets, from 5th Avenue to 8th avenue.

Central Park West is an area in New York City Known for its turn of the century hi-rise apartments that overlook the breathtaking treetops of the park. All of Central Park West from 62nd to the south side of 96th Street is contained in the Upper West Side/Central Park West Historic District. Many structures within this area are considered to be landmarks. This ensures that no exterior changes will be made without approval by the city's Landmarks Preservation Commission

This is the final frontier in New York City apartment rentals. Before purchasing, or bidding farewell to city life for the suburbs, many renters utilize the Upper west side as their final "nesting," destination in Manhattan. You'll find many a baby carriage, as well as young, urban professionals who prefer a slightly more laid back feel than the hustle and bustle of the East Side. The pre-war buildings, understated restaurants, cozy bars and quaint cafes keep the neighborhood lively and entertaining without shouting. 72nd Street and Broadway is the heart of the Upper West Side. It's a great collaboration of cultures, ages and ideas. In many ways this is the attitude, character and personality that many people think of when they think about New York City.

There is always something happening along Broadway (as the song says) in the Upper West Side. Broadway is envisioned as the grand tree-lined boulevard of the Upper West Side. Fine luxury buildings and brownstones including the famous, full-block courtyard between West 78th and 79th Streets, can be found here. Here you will find socialites, Columbia students, celebrities and tourists, all enjoying the elegant stretch of sidewalk that lines the lovely Park.

Lincoln Center is considered the gateway from midtown to the Upper West Side. Its home of the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. The residential community includes a diverse mix. Local students, artists and business professionals. Its central location, diversity and vibrant feel have attracted the culturally-minded from all over the world. Millionaires and celebrities as well as students of Columbia and Julliard settle here.
